About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Desktop Software Developer to join our team at Planetek Italia SRL. As a key member of our software development team, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing cutting-edge desktop applications that support space missions, satellite systems, and data analysis in the space domain.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Implementation: Design and implement user interfaces for desktop applications using UI frameworks like Qt, ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience.
  • Programming and Development: Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in C and C++ to develop desktop applications that meet the required specifications.
  • Development Tools and Technologies: Utilize development tools such as msvc, gcc, and gdb for coding and debugging, and configure and manage projects using CMake.
  • API Integration and Security: Integrate APIs into desktop applications to enable data exchange and functionality, and ensure the security and authentication of desktop applications.
  • Performance Optimization and Deployment: Optimize application performance through various techniques and approaches, and manage the deployment and distribution of desktop applications.
  • Testing and Debugging: Conduct testing and debugging to identify and fix issues, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and provide technical insights.
  • UX/UI Design and Agile Development: Apply UX/UI design principles to create visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces, and adhere to agile development practices and participate in team meetings and code reviews.
  • Version Control and Containerization: Utilize version control systems, such as Git, for configuration management, and have familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker/Kubernetes.
Requirements
  • UI Frameworks and Programming Skills: Proficiency in UI frameworks, particularly Qt, for desktop application development, and strong programming skills in C and C++.
  • Development Tools and Technologies: Experience with development tools such as msvc, gcc, and gdb, and knowledge of CMake for project configuration and management.
  • APIs and Data Exchange: Familiarity with desktop APIs, including Windows API, macOS Cocoa, and Linux GTK, and ability to integrate APIs and work with data exchange formats (e.g., JSON, XML).
  • Security and Authentication: Knowledge of security and authentication practices for desktop applications, and experience in performance optimization techniques for desktop applications.
  • Deployment and Distribution: Understanding of deployment and distribution processes for desktop software, and proficiency in testing and debugging methodologies.
  • Language Skills and Agile Development: Excellent English and Italian language skills (both written and spoken), and knowledge of agile development practices and ability to work in an agile environment.
