Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Youth Homelessness Prevention Specialist to join our team in Venice, CA. The successful candidate will be responsible for serving system-involved youth at risk of or currently experiencing homelessness. This includes aiding them in navigating the Youth Coordinated Entry System (YCES) and collaborating with Probation and DCFS staff to resolve potential housing crises.

Main Responsibilities
  • Liaise with and provide technical assistance to DCFS regional office staff, including children's social workers, and Probation Camp staff for youth exiting or exited from DCFS.
  • Participate in Discharge/Transition planning meetings and related services for youth and young adults exiting Foster Care and/or Probation Camps.
  • Identify safety or health issues that may need to be considered during identification of housing and provide mediation between households and property owners/family/friends to assist in resolving housing crisis.
  • Deliver field- and place-based supportive services, acquire resources, and make successful referrals to ensure participants successfully access and initially retain housing.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in field-based case management, counseling, or a related field is required.
  • Strong commitment to social justice and practice actualizing these values in a working environment.
  • Knowledge and experience working with co-occurring populations, motivational interviewing, evidence-based practices, trauma-informed care, housing first principles, and harm reduction.
Salary Information

The estimated salary for this role is $65,000-$80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
