Counselor in Residence

Overview:

Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School and Camp is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Day Camp Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in shaping the camp experience for children, planning engaging activities, and ensuring camper safety and well-being.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and Lead Activities: Develop and deliver age-appropriate activities aligned with camp themes and objectives, leading engaging and interactive sessions that foster participation and enthusiasm.
• Ensure Camper Safety and Well-being: Provide constant supervision, maintain a safe and secure environment, administer first aid, and implement emergency procedures as needed.
• Foster Positive Camper Development: Build positive relationships with campers, create a sense of belonging, encourage teamwork and respect for others, and help campers develop social skills and self-confidence.
• Maintain Camp Standards and Practices: Uphold all camp rules and regulations, contribute to a clean and well-maintained camp facility, and report any safety hazards or maintenance needs promptly.
• Communicate Effectively: Provide regular updates and feedback to parents/guardians, communicate effectively with fellow staff members and program specialists, and represent the camp positively when interacting with the community.

Qualifications:

• Education and Experience: Minimum 19 years old, one year of college or experience, and certification in First Aid/CPR.
• Skills and Abilities: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong organizational and time management skills, ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team, and commitment to safety and the well-being of children.
• Knowledge and Skills: Understanding of child development principles, ability to plan and implement creative and engaging activities, and effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
