We are seeking a highly qualified Pomology Research Expert to join our team at the University of Idaho.
Estimated Salary: $80,000 - $120,000 per year.
About the PositionThis is a 12-month appointment that offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced researcher to initiate and conduct innovative research programs in pomology systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a nationally and internationally recognized research program focused on enhancing fruit production and management to meet the needs of the Idaho pomology industry.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in horticulture, pomology, or a related scientific discipline, with expertise in planning and conducting field-based experiments in pomology and reporting results. They will also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as experience working in teams with diverse stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive research program in pomology systems, focusing on enhancing fruit production and management.
- Conduct innovative research projects, including studies on advanced information system technology, orchard management, and postharvest biology.
- Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to develop and deliver presentations, publications, and other outputs.
- Secure external funding to support research and extension activities.
- Mentor graduate students and participate in recruitment and advising.
- Ph.D. in horticulture, pomology, or a related scientific discipline.
- Experience planning and conducting field-based experiments in pomology and reporting results.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in teams and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
