About the Role

At Mattel, we're seeking a highly skilled Retail Development Manager, Licensing to join our team in Italy or Barcelona. This exciting opportunity will see you work closely with our Head of Consumer Products, Italy & Iberia, to drive retail-first strategies and deliver exceptional results for our top licensing partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute retail strategies across the Mattel portfolio, building retail calendars and activations that meet our growth objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Consumer Products to manage licensing marketing strategies, working closely with brand marketing and retail marketing teams to develop franchise-first retail and marketing campaigns.
  • Manage Mattel's licensing retail initiatives, executing against pre-existing programs and driving growth through innovative partnerships.
  • Maintain and grow retail relationships across all categories, focusing on delivering exceptional customer experiences and driving revenue growth.
  • Represent Mattel at trade events and presentations, showcasing our brands and driving business development opportunities.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for key retailers and buyers, building strong relationships and driving sales growth.
  • Present and sell-in our brands to retailers, supporting category managers and licensees to drive business success.
  • Manage all existing retail relations, including pitching, presenting, contact management, and strategy development.
  • Deliver the retail strategy, driving relationships with licensing programs and working closely with the Mattel Sales teams to deliver best-in-class programs.
  • Assist in developing detailed joint business plans for top 6 retail partners, including retail calendars and activation plans.
  • Presentation retail plans to top licensing partners.
  • Conduct regular 1-1 meetings, arrange quarterly business reviews, bi-annual top-to-top meetings, and track activations.
  • Support the category team in delivering and ensuring detailed joint Italy marketing plans (per top country) per partner, aligning licensee investment with Mattel Consumer Products goals and ensuring marketing support for top items.
New Business Opportunities
  • Support the category team in researching, identifying, and pitching new category opportunities and prospective clients.
  • Attend trade fairs or category-specific shows, driving business development opportunities and growing our presence in the market.
Strategy and Analysis
  • Support the Head of Consumer Products in key strategies, analyzing market trends, gaps, opportunities, and category priorities.
  • Research, identify, and pitch new category opportunities and prospective clients, staying ahead of the competition and driving growth.
  • Keep current with changing trends and competition, gathering insights and sharing best practices across the EMEA region.
  • Implement marketing and promotional strategies in liaison with internal and external stakeholders, driving business growth and expansion.
  • Gather and share category best practice from across the EMEA region with local teams, driving innovation and improvement.
  • Help find innovative ways to grow the business, managing extension of local deals into additional EMEA countries.
What We're Looking For
  • Demonstrated growth mindset, staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.
  • Solid licensing experience and industry expertise.
  • Strong understanding of licensing and retail, with high-level business acumen and financial awareness.
  • Excellent negotiation and commercial skills, with ability to drive vision and build compelling stories in PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication and project management skills, with ability to work effectively in a matrix organization.
  • Fluent English is required, with Spanish and/or Italian being preferred.
Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of €60,000 - €80,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus excellent benefits and career development opportunities.
