Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Technician to join our team at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, where you will be working on the development of new technologies for embodied sensing processes in soft robots.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing the hardware platforms needed to test sensors, actuators, and robots. Your main focus will be on creating innovative solutions that enable our soft robots to 'see the world' and interact with it intelligently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop hardware platforms for testing sensors, actuators, and robots
  • Support the fabrication and testing of soft sensors and soft actuator systems
  • Assist with lab logistics, lab safety procedures, contacting providers, and purchasing of goods/equipment

Requirements:

  • MSc in Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or Robotics
  • 2-yr professional experience in an experimental laboratory
  • Strong hands-on-experience with design, assembly, and testing of electromechanical set-ups, software/programming languages, electronic instruments, and universal electromechanical testing machines
  • Good knowledge of electronic and mechanical CAD software
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment
  • Efficient to properly organize, store, and report research data
  • Good command in spoken and written English

  • PhD in areas related to electronic engineering, microtechnology, mechatronics, or robotics
  • Creative and strong attitude at problem-solving
  • Good communication skills
  • Good in time and priority management
