Job Description

This position is a great opportunity to work with the Department of the Navy as a Water and Wastewater Systems Engineer. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining the water and wastewater systems for the department, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and laws.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Compliance and Management: Ensure that all water and wastewater systems are in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including environmental regulations and guidelines.
  2. Resource Allocation: Allocate resources to manage and align business operations in support of short- or long-range plans, ensuring that all projects are completed on time and within budget.
  3. Problem-Solving: Solve engineering problems associated with the operation of water and wastewater systems, including contaminant level and proper disposal, simple to advanced water treatment processes, emission of pollutants into the atmosphere, wastewater collection and treatment system, neutralization process system, disinfection, filtration and advanced drinking water treatments.
  4. Training and Guidance: Provide training and guidance on water and wastewater treatment operations and maintenance programs to ensure that personnel are equipped to handle their responsibilities effectively.
Requirements
  • Education: A professional engineering degree or current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
  • Experience: At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector, with a proven track record of successfully managing and maintaining water and wastewater systems.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of water and wastewater systems, including engineering principles, operations, and maintenance. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with personnel at all levels.
Working Conditions

This position is covered by the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) and requires a security clearance. The selected candidate will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases. This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States, including remote or isolated sites.
