Job Description

At Atir, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Renewable Energy Environmental Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the environmental sustainability and compliance of our photovoltaic (PV) projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Environmental Compliance: Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal environmental regulations and permits related to PV projects, maintaining a strong focus on environmental stewardship and sustainability.
  2. Environmental Impact Assessment: Conduct thorough environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and site evaluations for proposed PV projects, considering factors such as land use, biodiversity, water resources, and air quality, to minimize environmental risks and ensure project viability.
  3. Permitting and Licensing: Manage the permitting process for PV projects, including the preparation and submission of permit applications, environmental impact statements, and other regulatory documents, to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
  4. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders, including local communities, regulatory agencies, and environmental organizations, to address concerns, gather feedback, and build positive relationships, fostering a collaborative and transparent approach to project development.
  5. Sustainability Initiatives: Develop and implement sustainability initiatives for PV projects, including resource conservation, waste management, and carbon footprint reduction strategies, to promote environmental responsibility and minimize the project's ecological footprint.
  6. Risk Management: Identify and assess environmental risks associated with PV projects, developing mitigation measures to minimize the impact on the environment and surrounding communities, ensuring the long-term sustainability of our projects.
  7. Environmental Monitoring: Establish and maintain environmental monitoring programs to track key indicators such as water quality, air emissions, and wildlife populations at PV project sites, providing valuable insights for project optimization and improvement.
  8. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare comprehensive environmental reports, documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, highlighting project milestones, compliance status, and environmental performance metrics, to ensure transparency and accountability.
  9. Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about emerging environmental trends, technologies, and best practices in the PV industry, recommending improvements to environmental management processes and procedures to enhance our organization's sustainability and environmental performance.
  10. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project developers, engineers, and regulatory affairs specialists, to integrate environmental considerations into all stages of PV project development and operation, ensuring a holistic and sustainable approach to project delivery.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental management, preferably within the photovoltaic industry.
  2. Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field. Additional certifications in environmental management are preferred.
  3. In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting requirements relevant to PV projects.
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex environmental issues and propose effective solutions.
  5. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  6. Proficiency in environmental assessment tools, GIS software, and other relevant technical applications.
  7. Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  8. Commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, with a passion for renewable energy and climate action.
  9. Willingness to travel to project sites and attend meetings with stakeholders as needed.
  10. Fluency in English and Italian both written and verbal, is required. Additional language skills are a plus.
