Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Programme Officer to join our team at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the mobilization of voluntary contributions, facilitating negotiations of funding agreements, and supporting capacity development efforts in resource mobilization partnerships.



Key Responsibilities


  • Contribute to the preparation of annual work plans to achieve divisional targets, aligning with corporate priorities and strategies.
  • Collaborate with headquarters and decentralized offices to mobilize resources partnerships, fostering effective relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Facilitate contact with potential partners to explore funding opportunities, negotiate funding agreements, and project proposals.
  • Support capacity development efforts for staff in all locations, developing policy, training materials, and delivering training to enhance resource mobilization skills.
  • Organize and facilitate marketing and outreach activities, donor meetings, events, and campaigns to promote FAO's Strategic Framework and priority areas.


Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have an advanced university degree in international development, development economics, international law, business administration, agriculture, or a related field. A minimum of five years of relevant experience in international development, donor aid programmes, fundraising, grant negotiations and management, or SSTC is also required.

Technical/Functional Skills


  • Work experience in multiple locations or areas of work, particularly in field positions, is desirable.
  • Extensive experience in negotiating funding agreements with bilateral and multilateral institutions is required.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in managing relations and outreach with partners, including donor meetings, events, and campaigns.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in resource mobilization and/or SSTC are essential.
  • Knowledge in budget planning and implementation is highly desirable.
