About the Role:
Hitachi Rail is seeking an experienced and skilled Head of Onboard Systems to join our team. As a key member of our Engineering Department, you will be responsible for the management and coordination of onboard systems, including passenger doors, HVAC, brakes, fire detection and extinguishing systems, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate the onboard systems, ensuring they meet the required standards and specifications.
- Support and coordinate during the bid and project development of the technical design of the onboard system.
- Define the systems conceptual solution and architecture, based on the requirements and vehicle configuration.
- Prepare system requirements specification, analyze suppliers' technical proposals, and verify technical descriptions of the system.
- Prepare functional requirements specification for integration with TCM and support during system type tests.
- Design review with clients, suppliers, and notified bodies.
Requirements:
- Degree in Electric or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical background.
- At least 5 years of experience in the railway industry with a role of Systems Engineer and/or Designer focused on doors systems.
- Good knowledge of mechanics, electronics, and principal internal components of the system.
- Related knowledge of RAMS disciplines and main applicable standards.
- Knowledge of office automation software and tools, such as Word, Excel, and IBM DOORS requirements management tool.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization, with a constructive and practical attitude.
- Readiness to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced, multitasking international environment.

- Ability to manage and plan assigned tasks independently and team-working.
- Ability to analyze business requirements, problem-solving attitude, and business process analysis.
- Ability to face different internal functions (internal customer) and external (suppliers, customers, partners).
