Job PurposeThe Procurement Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that the materials needed in manufacturing production are secured in a timely manner, meet quality specifications, and are purchased at the best cost available. This role will involve processing purchasing transactions, making higher-level sourcing decisions, and negotiating with suppliers.
Key Responsibilities- Anticipate and negotiate price changes with suppliers.
- Monitor the competitive landscape of the wastewater treatment industries to make informed procurement recommendations and decisions.
- Foster and manage productive relationships with targeted raw material and transportation suppliers to identify and deliver value-added propositions.
- Collaborate with technical personnel to determine the raw materials needed for new products and product enhancements, survey the market for the best sources, and negotiate the most favorable pricing.
- Locate vendors of materials, equipment, or supplies and determine their worthiness to satisfy company requirements in relation to quality, delivery, and pricing.
- Award bids based on the evaluation of quality, price, and suppliers' ability to meet requirements.
- Maintain documentation of supplier bid awards to support objective selection.
- Represent the company in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers.
- Maintain records of goods ordered and received.
- Manage supplier complaints, settle disputes, and resolve conflicts to acceptable purchasing standards.
- Assist accounts payable personnel with supplier invoice issues.
- Monitor and approve new vendor requests.
- Complete new supplier credit applications.
- Interact with on-site contractors to confirm that company requirements are met in relation to safety and liability insurance.
- Establish objectives and strategies to identify potential money-saving opportunities.
- Establish and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with critical suppliers.
- Review purchasing performance for conformance to company policy.
- Track purchasing activity and measurements required by policy and/or requested by management staff.
- Knowledge of SAP MRO system.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Negotiation training and/or a purchasing background desired.
- Possesses well-developed communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws.
- Addresses inquiries and resolves problems by using appropriate resources/other departments to achieve results/answers.
- Presents a professional attitude and handles confidential information according to non-disclosure guidelines.
- Ability to work in a high-paced and multi-task environment.
- High ethical standards and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Well-organized and detail-oriented.
