Job Overview:

The Senior Aerospace Software Engineer will lead the design, development, and maintenance of software systems for satellite spaceflight safety. This position requires strong expertise in Java and object-oriented programming principles, as well as experience with database systems (SQL and/or NoSQL) and data modeling.

Responsibilities:

  1. Review, package, and update software to screen satellite orbits for hazards
  2. Interface with multiple teammates to develop applications to provide data to a scalable cloud service platform
  3. Develop strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  5. Leverage space operations knowledge to support satellite constellations and operations
  6. Support and plan Agile sprints to break software development tasks into logical and efficient packages
  7. Work with advanced analysts and system tier support to create procedures in support of ongoing operations
  8. Evaluate incoming scientific data for reasonableness

Requirements:

  • US Citizenship required
  • Top Secret / SCI security clearance with a willingness to take a CI Polygraph required
  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience in software engineering or software development with Java

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Oracle Java Certification (or equivalent)
  • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (or equivalent)
  • Red Hat Linux experience
  • Development tools such as Git, Maven, and Jenkins
  • Web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and AJAX
  • Windows experience
  • Strong skill set with Jira
  • Strong skill set with Confluence
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certification or experience
  • Experience serving government customers

Estimated Salary Range: $197,000 - $226,000 per annum, depending on relevant experience, location, and other factors.
