**Job Summary**

The Deputy Public Works Director will assist the Public Works Director in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring the efficient delivery of services and projects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring and evaluating department service delivery methods and procedures
  • Assessing workload and supporting systems to identify opportunities for productivity improvements
  • Acting on behalf of the Public Works Director in resolving personnel matters
  • Reviewing and revising job descriptions, job announcements, and participating in the interview process
  • Developing and administering the Public Works operating budget

**Required Skills and Qualifications**

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

  • A graduate degree in civil engineering from a four-year college or university
  • A minimum of four years of previous governmental experience, including two years in a supervisory role
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Arizona or the ability to obtain registration within a reasonable time frame
