At Applied Materials, we are seeking a highly skilled Facilities and Real Estate Manager to join our Global Workplace and Infrastructure team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing our facilities in Italy, ensuring a safe, cost-effective, and productive work environment for our employees.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in facilities management, with experience in managing facilities in an industrial multinational company. You will be responsible for managing the planning, design, construction, operation, service, and maintenance of equipment, machinery, buildings, and other facilities. You will also be responsible for developing operating and capital budgets and managing to these throughout the fiscal year.

As a Facilities and Real Estate Manager, you will be a subject matter expert in real estate and facilities, providing leadership to the staff and working together with local management and stakeholders to ensure the safe, cost-effective, and productive operations of facilities and infrastructure in Italy for Applied Materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the company's local facility assets for manufacturing, research & development, warehouse, training, and office operations to ensure a compelling workplace experience while managing company expenses and liabilities and maximizing safety and building uptime.
  • Manage the planning, design, construction, operation, service, and maintenance of equipment, machinery, buildings, and other facilities, directly and through local staff and service providers/contractors.
  • Collaborate with the Environmental Health & Safety group, oversee facility-related health, environmental, and safety standards, and support sustainability and energy savings initiatives.
  • Develop operating and capital budgets and manage to these throughout the fiscal year.
  • Negotiate, manage, and administer contracts with vendors and service providers, exercising the highest level of ethics and professionalism and coordinating with other corporate functions (Procurement/Legal/Finance) to follow company policies.
  • Manage outsourced Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) suppliers performing operations, maintenance, repairs of facilities systems.
  • Track and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Plan, budget, schedule, and implement facility infrastructure repairs, modifications, and improvements.
  • Provide clear and frequent project updates to internal stakeholders on scope, schedule, budget, and risks.
  • Manage Italy GWI staff and make recommendations for organizational resources, staffing, and priorities.
  • Review operations, maintenance, trouble shooting, project commissioning, and acceptance-related documents for facilities systems.
  • Respond to business interruptions or internal customer escalations as needed.
  • Coordinate in developing business continuity plans and in assessing facilities resilience and redundancy risks, system capacities and capabilities, and end of asset life planning.
  • Collaborate with other groups including Finance, Human Resources, Security, GIS/IT, Insurance, and business units occupier groups and stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Strong working experience as a facilities manager in an industrial multinational company.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of local Fire, Building, Occupancy, Real Estate, and Environmental codes.
  • Experience with MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, AutoCAD, building controls systems, CMMS, and IWMS systems.
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Facilities, Business, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in facilities management or related field.
  • Fluency in Italian and English.

Travel Requirements:

This role requires 50% travel, with occasional overnight stays.
