As part of the Amazon Reliability Maintenance Engineering team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing the technologies within our Global Warehouse & Delivery Network.
ROLE PURPOSE:
We are in search of enthusiastic, customer-oriented professionals to fill the position of Automation Engineer (AE).
The AE will focus on diagnosing issues, troubleshooting, and enhancing control solutions for automated material handling systems, including conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, and control cabinets. Additionally, the AE will provide training to Engineering Technicians on troubleshooting and preventive maintenance practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Serve as the site-level Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all control systems and sensors, actively monitoring and repairing systems to ensure high equipment availability.
• Educate technicians on fundamental control systems troubleshooting to elevate site knowledge.
• Collaborate within the EU Controls network to improve monitoring of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) metrics and provide data visualization to internal stakeholders.
• Engage in or lead continuous improvement initiatives coordinated by the EU Controls network.
• Partner with IT and Engineering teams to ensure accurate documentation and maintenance of backup libraries for all systems.
• Support the installation and commissioning of new equipment alongside global teams.
• Assist other sites within the EU network as necessary.
• Interpret mechanical and electrical schematics while developing strategies for code compliance with IEC standards.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Proven experience with PLC-controlled automation and troubleshooting in a continuous process or production setting.
• Familiarity with various conveyors and sortation systems.
• Experience in material handling, flow, and capacity monitoring.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, Ignition, Visio, and AutoCAD.
• Strong communication skills in English and the local language at CEFR Level B2 or higher.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, computer science, or related fields.
• Knowledge of ISO 13849 & 62061 standards.
• Understanding of CE Machinery Directive.
• Experience in a multi-site operational environment.
• Background in project management.
• Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies, data analysis, and process improvement techniques.
