Chief Engineer Position

Job Summary

Marriott International is seeking a highly skilled Chief Engineer to join our team at the Westin Excelsior Rome. As a key member of our hotel's operations team, you will be responsible for managing all maintenance and safety operations to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for our guests and employees.

Your Challenge

As Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for managing all engineering and maintenance operations, including maintaining the building, grounds, and physical plant. You will also be accountable for managing the budget, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation. You will ensure full compliance with Italian laws and Marriott International's corporate policies and procedures.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced engineer with a technical high school or degree in Civil/Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. You should have experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity and possess excellent leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all engineering and maintenance operations, including maintaining the building, grounds, and physical plant.
• Manage the budget, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation.
• Ensure full compliance with Italian laws and Marriott International's corporate policies and procedures.
• Lead the emergency response team for all facility issues and collaborate for the safety and security of guests and associates of the Hotel.

  • Hazardous Materials and Chemicals - The ability to handle and store hazardous materials and chemicals. This includes knowledge of the safety precautions required for each chemical.
  • HVAC/Refrigeration - Knowledge of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, equipment, including boilers, chillers, air handling units/controls, and refrigeration equipment. This includes the ability to inspect, repair, and maintain equipment, charge refrigeration systems, replace air filters, and clean coils.
  • Energy - Knowledge of energy management and efficient operation of the building and associated systems including retro and continuous commissioning and demand side management. This also includes minimizing the carbon footprint and complying with applicable environmental codes.
  • Safety and Personal Protective Equipment - Knowledge of the lock out tag out process and the personal protective equipment (PPE) safety process required (., ear plugs, gloves, respirators, safety glasses) for a given work activity, and correct ways to use the lock out tag out and PPE equipment.
  • Maintenance and Repair - Skill and knowledge in Maintenance and Repair including carpentry, internal surfacing, building repair, electronics, painting, and plumbing.
  • Contract Negotiating - Knowledge and ability to prepare contract documents to formalize business process.
  • Tools and Equipment - The ability to properly and safely operate, maintain, clean, and store various types of hand/power tools, machines, and motor equipment.
  • Water Facility Maintenance and Safety - Knowledge and ability to treat and maintain water for use in primary outlets (., rooms, restaurants, recreation, sewage).
