Your Team

The research line is under the guidance of Dr. Lucia Beccai, who possesses extensive expertise in bioinspired tactile sensing systems, bionics, biorobotics, and soft robotics. The research focuses on developing innovative technologies for embodied sensing processes in soft robots, particularly emphasizing touch, enabling these systems to perceive and interact intelligently with their surroundings, ultimately assisting humans in real-world applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop hardware platforms essential for testing sensors, actuators, and robots developed in the laboratory.
  • Support the fabrication and testing of soft sensor and actuator systems.
  • Assist with laboratory logistics, safety procedures, and procurement of goods and equipment.

Essential Requirements

  • MSc in Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or Robotics.
  • Two years of professional experience in an experimental laboratory setting.
  • Strong hands-on experience in the design, assembly, and testing of electromechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in software/programming languages (e.g., C/C++, LabVIEW, MATLAB).
  • Experience with electronic instruments (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters, data loggers).
  • Familiarity with universal electromechanical testing machines.
  • Good knowledge of electronic and mechanical CAD software.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • Efficient in organizing, storing, and reporting research data.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.

Additional Skills

  • A PhD in electronic engineering, microtechnology, mechatronics, or robotics is a significant advantage.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Effective time and priority management skills.
