Packaging Machine Operator Job Summary

Ferrara Candy Company is seeking a skilled Packaging Machine Operator to join our team in Forest Park. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining various machines to ensure efficient production.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Set up and operate packaging machines to meet production requirements.
  2. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
  3. Ensure packaging materials meet quality standards and replenish supplies as needed.
  4. Feed product to conveyors, hoppers, scales, or other feeding devices.
  5. Conduct quality checks and inspect filled containers to ensure product meets specifications.
  6. Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues with equipment at the entry maintenance mechanic level.
  7. Collaborate with maintenance team to resolve complex issues.
  8. Adhere to company policies, GMP, and safety standards.
Requirements
  1. Minimum 1 year experience operating packaging machinery and/or working in food manufacturing.
  2. High school diploma or equivalent; or related experience and/or training.
  3. Basic mathematical skills and ability to pass certification test on pallet jack and fork lift.
  4. Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods; ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  5. Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions

This position requires knowledge and awareness of manufacturing and industrial sites. Protective gear will be required where appropriate. Position requires ability to work overtime, varying start times, and weekends dependent on business needs.
