Scientific Researcher

Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) is a research institute that focuses on developing human-centered Science and Technology to address pressing societal challenges. Our Genoa headquarters serves as a hub for interdisciplinary collaboration with our 11 centers in Italy and two international stations.

We are seeking a highly motivated Post-Doc researcher to join our team at the IIT Genoa center. The successful candidate will be part of a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, working alongside physicists, chemists, surface scientists, electrical engineers, and biomedical engineers to advance our research in 2D materials.

• Investigate the structural, chemical, and electronic properties of materials using advanced surface analysis tools.
• Contribute to the development of new surface analysis techniques and their implementation in real-world applications.

A competitive salary package of €60,000 - €80,000 per year, depending on experience, plus additional benefits such as staff discounts and opportunities for professional growth.

• Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Previous experience with UHV systems, including use and maintenance.
• Knowledge of Photoemission Spectroscopy (XPS and ARPES, UPS) and Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM).
• Excellent English communication skills, creativity, and enthusiasm for research.
