We are seeking a highly skilled Validation Engineer to join our Catania, Italy team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for testing and validating the manufactured Power Management IC in a lab environment. This involves understanding the functional specification of the IC, devising appropriate validation techniques, and creating a validation test plan. The engineer will also design and develop a test bench setup, including hardware board design, and write test cases in software. The developed test suite will be executed, data gathered, analyzed, and validation reports created, all within planned and agreed time scales.
The engineer will contribute to achieving one of the strategic business goals to develop the highest possible degree of automation of the validation test suite for Digital Power products in the Performance Power Business Division of Renesas Electronics. As such, the engineer must be skilled in lab automation techniques, design of open and extendable hardware, and software reuse methodologies.
The engineer will be part of a cross-site Validation Automation Group reporting to a local lead. Teamwork, communication, innovation, and technical leadership are essential for success in this role.
Qualifications- 10 or more years of post-silicon bench validation experience
- Strong knowledge of power management applications in consumer electronics
- Knowledge of voltage regulators (Buck, Buck-Boost, LDO), key parameters, and measurement methods
- High level of expertise in lab automation, with the ability to propose improvements to existing manual techniques
- Board level analog and digital circuit design expertise for PCB schematic creation
- High proficiency with Python programming, particularly for lab automation hardware environments
- Technical leadership, capable of leading a complex IC validation project
- Ability to debug unexpected issues and identify root causes
- Ability to work with minimal instructions
- Support and mentoring of junior team members
- Goal-oriented and able to deliver on-time results under tight schedules
