About the Role

At HITACHI ENERGY LTD, we are seeking a highly skilled Global R&D Materials Compliance Specialist to join our team within the Hitachi Energy Transformers business unit. As a key member of our Technology Centers, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the materials and chemicals used in our products and manufacturing processes meet the highest environmental, health, and safety standards, while also complying with evolving regulatory requirements.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Material Compliance and Sourcing: Strategically evaluate and select materials and chemicals that comply with relevant legislations and industry standards for our global transformers portfolio.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams to define material requirements and specifications, and communicate complex information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supply Chain and Quality Management: Support the supply chain and quality department in supplier and internal audits, and provide expertise on material and processing matters.
  • Technology Scouting and Research: Conduct technology scouting to understand industry and technology trends, including the latest developments in materials science, and design and execute experiments to characterize and qualify new materials.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Develop detailed reports containing the results of materials testing, considering various characterization methodologies.
  • Material Knowledge and Expertise: Transcend your chemical and materials knowledge across different classes of materials, and provide technical expertise and guidance on material selection, processing, and application.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Affairs: Collaborate with regulatory affairs teams to ensure materials compliance in R&D with evolving relevant regulatory requirements and certifications.
  • Product Development and Innovation: Assist in root cause analysis and solutions, and proactively look for opportunities to gain IP and create commercial advantage through product innovation.
  • Team Collaboration and Communication: Actively participate in transformers-related external materials and sustainability standardization committees and industrial initiatives.

About You

  • Experience and Qualifications: Min. 5 years of experience in materials and chemicals characterization methodologies, strong knowledge of global product material compliance regulations, and a university degree in chemistry, materials science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong general quantitative and qualitative analytical and problem-solving skills, knowledge of global environmental regulations, ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and excellent project management skills.
  • Language and Communication: Strong written and oral communication skills, fluent in English, and other European languages are a plus.
