The Certification Engineer position at Alstom involves collaborating with the C&A manager to apply the C&A process and obtain necessary certificates and authorisations for railways vehicles, adhering to a defined strategy.
This role is part of the C&V EDU (Engineering Design Unit) and operates within a Rolling Stock project framework, aligning with European Regulation (IV Railway Package), National Rules, laws, and internal procedures.
The successful candidate will functionally report to the Project C&A Manager and hierarchically to the C&A Site Leader.
Responsibilities- Carry out dedicated activities within C&A processes according to the project C&A management plan during all project phases.
- Support the C&A Manager in identifying and preparing Certification and/or Authorisation requirements.
- Collaborate with the project team in preparing evidence documents plans, such as those for TSIs or National Rules.
- Collect and compile C&A evidence documents for submission to independent assessors and/or authorising entities.
- Maintain certification-related data in requirement management tools, e.g., Doors/Excel.
- Organise periodic reviews of evidence documentation and assessment reports.
- Compile and track C&A relevant reporting, including KPIs and cost overviews.
- Serve as a key partner for the project team on Engineering, RAMS, Quality, Planning, Validation, Maintenance, Sourcing.
- Prepare selection material and collaborate with independent assessors (e.g., NoBo, DeBo, AsBo) and authorising entities (e.g., ERA or NSA's).
- Compile the Certification and Authorisation application file(s).
- Participate in modifications follow-up for certified/authorised vehicle configurations.
- Mastering of Certification process, minimum 2 years in Railways or Automotive or Aerospace domain.
- Train system and subsystem knowledge, minimum 2 years.
- Customer and external stakeholders Technical Management.
- Fluent English language skills.
