In this role, you will be responsible for providing expertise and support in the assessment and management of individual medical underwriting and claims cases from a medical, non-medical, legal, contractual, and administrative perspective. You will help manage internal tools to ensure a correct workflow process and play a proactive approach in the future linked to medical underwriting and claims evolutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will contribute to the benefit definition and updating of the rules and regulations of the medical and financial underwriting manual.
  • You will adapt to the local language and provide clear guidance on definitions.
  • You will apply sophisticated underwriting procedures to assess medical and financial risks for facultative clients.
  • You will handle, understand, and manage different types of claims.
  • You will communicate with all levels of client's underwriters and other company management personnel, explaining the reasoning and theory surrounding an underwriting impairment, problem, and/or decision.
  • You will set up and drive initiatives linked to medical underwriting and claims client servicing, highlighting relevant findings for actions, while ensuring a competitive turnaround time to clients and maintaining SCOR standards for underwriting and claims philosophy.

Requirements:

  • You will keep up-to-date with current medical topics, current economics, and business environment, as well as changing and new financial evaluation concepts and measures.
  • You will carry out medical and financial underwriting training for clients.
  • You will contribute to the local adaptation of informative documents prepared by the company regarding medical and financial underwriting.
  • You will incorporate the financial and medical underwriting point of view into product development.
  • You will collaborate with the business development and pricing teams to develop new products and benefits.
  • You will have an innovative mindset, acknowledging AI trends in the medical underwriting and claims area and how they could be a future game-changer for the underwriting environment.
  • You will give support to clients during the onboarding of tools provided by SCOR.
  • You will promote commercially the EUW and VClaim tools and support to clients and colleagues of Velogica in the implementation of the tools.
  • You will understand internal processes, tools, and systems for underwriting and claims.
  • You will prepare additional reports required for business monitoring and accumulation.
  • You will collaborate with the technical accounting department for the control and registration of claims.
  • You will collaborate with the actuarial department to monitor sports professional athletes.
  • You will have professional experience in the insurance sector, with a priority requirement of experience in life reinsurance.
  • You will have excellent communication skills to interact with clients and internal teams.
  • You will be a change agent for innovation transformation.
  • You will have at least a bachelor's degree in economics, insurance, or similar.
  • You will have strong analytics and reporting analysis capabilities.
  • You will have a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • You will have a strong spirit of collaboration.
  • You will have an international mindset, with the ability to adapt to different cultures and practices, and understand those differences.
  • You will have the ability to identify necessary risks and challenges to our underwriting and claims functions and provide input into solutions.
  • You will bring a strong mindset for facilitating best practice.
  • You will like good team spirit and be willing to work with other people.
  • You will have the availability to travel in Italy and abroad to meet clients and/or for internal and/or international meetings.
