Job Title: Electronic Hardware Designer

We are seeking an experienced Electronic Hardware Designer to join our team at Alstom. As an Electronic Hardware Designer, you will be responsible for developing and designing electronic hardware boards and systems for our railway transportation solutions.



Responsibilities:


  • Develop and design electronic hardware boards and systems for railway transportation solutions
  • Perform detailed specification and design of HW modules, describing technical choices and verifying compliance to input requirements
  • Define mechanical solutions and mechanical parts, working together with Mechanical Designers
  • Define electrical schematics of boards, realizing projects in Mentor Expedition
  • Define Bill Of Materials (EBOM), preferably using components in PPL (Preferred Part List)
  • Check and validate components used in design for F&S (Fire & Smoke) and Ecodesign constraints (EN45545, REACH)
  • Manage Technical Specification and follow-up for externalized development (COS Component On Specification)
  • Evaluate thermal performances and define better solution for heat dissipation
  • Evaluate reliability performances, assuring requirements (especially when associated with safety aspects) and providing estimation of MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) by calculation compliance to standards (MIL-HDBK 217F, IEC62380, IEC61709)
  • Define placement and routing constraints for electronic boards, to provide to PCB Layout Designers
  • Follow realization of PCB design (Mentor CAD)
  • Define interfaces of programmable components (FPGA, CPLD)
  • Design and implement VHDL code for programmable components – or specifies functionalities to be developed by FW designers
  • Ensure design can be manufactured (compliance to DFM – Design For Manufacturing – rules), tested and repaired, working together with industrialization teams
  • Provide specification for Minimum Requirements for Routine Test and check correct implementation in Routine Test Procedure and Report
  • Follow realization of prototypes and check them
  • Participate to Design Reviews
  • Design and implement FW/SW necessary for HW component tests – or specifies software to be developed by FW/SW designers
  • Specify, design, prepare and perform HW components and work products verifications (including tests)
  • Put hardware product under configuration management, according to Configuration Management Plan
  • Support HW/HW and HW/FW integration, together with HW Architect and FW Designer
  • Support HW Validation of product and Type Tests
  • Support Industrialization and Production Teams during manufacturing ramp-up
  • Sustain HW during life cycle, in particular in term of obsolescence detection and solution
  • Remain informed of evolution of technologies through techno watch
  • Contribute to standardization by reusing existing solutions or by implementing reusable solutions
  • Apply processes and standards (EN50155, EN50467)
  • Contribute to continuous improvement (RoE: Return on Experience, Failure and NFF – Not Fault Found – analysis, process, ...)
  • Ensures reporting of activities to HW Architect and PrEM


Requirements:


  • Master's degree in electronic engineering
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in development of HW Electronic boards, equipments and systems in railway domain


Desirable:


  • Experience in RAMS design
  • Experience in product development having functional safety requirements (EN50126, EN50129,...)
  • Experience in product development having cyber security requirements
  • Experience in product development having high availability requirements
  • Experience in product development having real time requirements
  • Experience in FPGA and FW/SW development
  • Competencies & Skills
  • Ability to work transversally with Engineering teams
  • Ability to use electronic instrument for measures and signal analysis
  • Ability to use SW tools for electronic design/validation (e.g. Mentor Xpedition, Pspice and ModelSim Simulator, RAM Commander, ...)
  • Practical skill in electronics (soldering, debug of electronic boards, building circuit for test support, ...)
  • Technical decision management
  • Design for Quality life cycle
  • English communication skills
