Job Summary
The Air Force Institute Of Technology is seeking a highly skilled Recreation Program Manager to oversee the planning, implementation, and management of diverse community activities and events at Aviano AB, Italy. As a key member of the Force Support Squadron, this position requires strong leadership and organizational skills to direct a team of nonsupervisory employees and ensure the success of comprehensive year-round community center programs for military and DoD civilians and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and direct community activities and events, including recreational programs, services, and services.
- Develop and execute a budget for a diverse recreational program, maintaining control and accountability for funds, supplies, equipment, and facilities.
- Recruit, train, and supervise a team of nonsupervisory employees to ensure the success of community activities and events.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment with Air Force Institute Of Technology goals and objectives.
Requirements
- One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems.
- Knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques for planning, implementing, and managing diverse skills development/outdoor recreation programs, services, and community activities.
- Knowledge of personnel management policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Ability to plan, organize, communicate, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium-sized organization.
Education
- Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D., if related.
- Major study in general recreation, or one of the appropriate fields of recreation such as outdoor recreation; recreation and parks leadership; wild land recreation management; natural resources recreation; youth recreation; public, urban, or community recreation; special populations recreation (e.g., senior citizens, institutional, etc.
); or physical education.
