Prevention Specialist

The Air Force Institute Of Technology is seeking a highly skilled Prevention Specialist to join our team. As a Prevention Specialist, you will play a critical role in implementing primary prevention education and training for the total base population.

• Completion of administrative functions, including budget execution
• Implementation of primary prevention education and training programs
• Providing knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies related to violence prevention
• Designing and delivering training programs for individuals and groups
• Using office automation software to support office operations and produce documents

To qualify for this position, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Position, 0101 Series.

You must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include:

• Applying knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies related to violence prevention
• Providing knowledge of a wide range of delivery systems relating to violence prevention
• Designing and delivering training programs for individuals and groups
• Using office automation software to support office operations and produce documents

You must have a degree in a behavioral or social science, or a related discipline. Alternatively, you can have a combination of education and experience that provided you with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

• Comprehensive and professional knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies related to violence prevention
• Thorough knowledge of a wide range of delivery systems relating to violence prevention
• Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups
• Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce documents
