As an Associate FPGA Engineer, you will contribute to designing and optimizing FPGA solutions integrated into cutting-edge wireless technologies. Your critical role will be advancing our FPGA capabilities and contributing to the development of wireless cellular systems.

Responsibilities

  1. Participate in the full cycle of FPGA development, including writing FPGA specifications, micro-architectures, designs, verifications, optimizations, and testing FPGA features for wireless communication systems on JMA HW/FPGA platforms.
  2. Implement FPGA designs focusing on ensuring optimal performance and resource reuse between products.
  3. Execute verification frameworks to ensure the reliability and functionality of FPGA RTL code.
  4. Collaborate with hardware and Firmware teams to integrate FPGA designs into larger wireless systems.
  5. Execute comprehensive test plans to validate the functionality and performance of FPGA blocks.
  6. Support the development of FPGA modules for wireless communication protocols, such as LTE, 5G, and ORAN fronthaul.
  7. Work with Firmware teams to integrate FPGA into HW products.
  8. Maintain detailed documentation for FPGA designs.
  9. Maintain version-controlled documentation to facilitate collaboration and knowledge transfer.
  10. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in the wireless field.
  11. Explore and recommend new tools, methodologies, and techniques to enhance FPGA development processes.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum of 1 year of experience in FPGA design, with a specific emphasis on wireless applications.
  2. Knowledge of RTL optimized design techniques in digital and DSP domains with Verilog/SystemVerilog and/or VHDL.
  3. Experience with FPGA design tools, such as Vivado, Quartus, and simulation tools, including code linters.
  4. Knowledge of FPGA synthesis, place-n-route processes, and optimization for timing closure.
  5. Familiarity with FPGA interfaces – 10/25GbE, ADC/DAC, uART, SPI, I2C, DDR4, JESD204B, and PCIe.
  6. Ability to write module-level and/or top-level FPGA testbenches with test cases to ensure design coverage in simulation.
  7. Lab troubleshooting skills – mastering lab setups, equipment, and leveraging FPGA's chipscope (or signal tap) debug tools.
  8. Knowledge of Python scripting language and familiarity with Bitbucket, Jira-based workflows.
  9. Some familiarity with wireless communication protocols (LTE, 5G) and their FPGA implementation.
  10. Some knowledge of RF systems and signal processing challenges in wireless communication.
  11. Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize FPGA solutions.
  12. Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  13. Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  14. English language is an asset.
