System Test & Commissioning Engineer

Location: Italy

Role Overview:

As a System Test & Commissioning Engineer, you will play a crucial role in executing testing and commissioning activities in the field, supporting multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support various projects focused on railway signaling systems under the guidance of your supervisor.
  • Follow established testing procedures and documentation, adhering to instructions from the Subsystem T&C Engineer or Leader.
  • Conduct system configuration tasks both in factory laboratories and on-site:
    • Install software baselines for signaling systems such as Interlocking for Railway Systems.
    • Perform configuration integrity checks and system startup.
    • Execute functional tests for subsystems and verify integration between them.
  • Carry out system testing activities, including:
    • Conformity tests.
    • Performance evaluations.
    • Requirements verification.
  • Identify and rectify defects through troubleshooting.
  • In case of non-conformities during commissioning, provide feedback to the project team and ensure all design-related issues are accurately documented in the appropriate tools, including defect descriptions and testing contexts.
  • Deliver results that meet performance commitments regarding quality, cost, and deadlines, while complying with Alstom policies, local standards, and regulations (EHS and Railway Safety).

Qualifications:

  • A technical bachelor's degree in electronics, electricity, or equivalent experience in an industrial setting.
  • Proficiency in Linux-based operating systems (CentOS, Red Hat, Ubuntu).
  • Understanding of LAN networking (protocols, subnets, VLANs, and switches).
  • Familiarity with virtual machines and environments.
  • Previous experience in Testing & Commissioning or Maintenance for Railway Signaling.
  • Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and networking skills.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Italy.
  • Flexibility for day/night shifts and weekend work as required in the field.
  • Access to smart working options when compatible with responsibilities.
