Faculty Opportunity in Humanities

Villanova University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the Humanities Department. We seek a scholar with expertise in the Augustinian Catholic intellectual tradition and a commitment to interdisciplinary teaching and research.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the Humanities major, including seminars on the "Great Questions" and self-designed elective courses. They will also contribute to the Augustine and Culture Seminar Program (ACS), a two-semester writing-intensive seminar that explores the Catholic intellectual tradition.

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate courses in the Humanities major, including seminars on the "Great Questions" and self-designed elective courses.
  • Contribute to the Augustine and Culture Seminar Program (ACS), a two-semester writing-intensive seminar that explores the Catholic intellectual tradition.
  • Develop and teach courses that engage with the Augustinian Catholic intellectual tradition and its relevance to contemporary issues.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, or near completion.
  • Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and research in the Humanities.
  • Interest in the liberal arts, the thought and influence of Augustine, and the Catholic intellectual tradition.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching in a liberal arts environment.
  • Research specialization in a relevant field, such as art and art history, cultural anthropology, humane economics, or sociology.
