Job DescriptionWe are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our dynamic team at the Institute for Earth System Predictions (IESP). The successful candidate will be responsible for enhancing the operational activities of our advanced ocean forecasting systems, contributing to groundbreaking research in ocean forecasting and environmental sustainability.
Key Responsibilities- Implementation, maintenance, and porting of operational chains, including operational validation and visualization systems
- Tracking failures of operational chains and implementing automatic recovery procedures
- Ensuring consistency checks of operational input and output data
- Master's degree in computer science or engineering
- Very good knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems and command line interface
- Good knowledge of programming languages (i.e., Python and Bash scripting)
- Good background in managing/manipulating/visualization of metocean data (i.e., NetCDF, CF metadata convention, GRIB, csv) and associated tools (NCO, CDO libraries)
- Good knowledge of version control systems (i.e., git)
- Background in containerization tools (Docker, Singularity)
- Initial appointment period of 24 months, renewable pending a positive evaluation
- Gross annual salary range based on qualification and working experience
