EHS Specialist

Job Title: EHS Senior Specialist

Job Overview:

Jefferson Wells is looking for an EHS Senior Specialist to join its team in Turin, Italy. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in occupational health and safety, with experience in implementing and improving EHS programs, regulations, and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assess and ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies, as well as EHS targets of the Group.
2. Collaborate in the development and oversight of EHS improvement plans, company sustainability programs, regulatory compliance, and ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
3. Design, implement, and improve corporate programs, activities, and initiatives aimed at preventing accidents, complying with applicable regulations, and driving safety performance.
4. Ensure all incidents are reported from all areas of site business, ensure investigations are led by line management (root causes, corrective actions).
5. Lead the introduction of corporate global safety standards within the local organization.
6. Ensure adherence of corporate H&S requirements and local legal requirements to the local operation.
7. Lead corporate management of change process (equipment installation/modifications, chemical substitution, plant start-ups, capital projects, etc.).
8. Lead and maintain certification program of ISO 45001, also promoting new site certification.
9. Sustainability activities: establish and review the local annual EHS improvement plans, set up objectives and targets on H&S matters.
10. Lead site risk assessments, safety observations, and safety inspections programs.
11. Develop and maintain external contacts with a contracted professional H&S consultant to be up to date with local legislations, to carry out regular trainings, to ensure obtaining a regularly updated, complex, comprehensive risk assessment for the entire local operation.
12. Carry out gap analysis: support, management, and follow up the corrections to meet compliance.
13. Have a good working relationship with the enforcing authorities and support corporate H&S compliance audit program; set up corrective actions against gaps and findings as identified; help and follow up the implementation of corrective action plans.
14. Ensure (with external consultancy support, if necessary) key trainings are carried out, (e.g., Induction/Orientation; Lockout/Tagout; Confined Spaces; Work at Heights...)
15. Health programs implementation and development.
16. To support the site on managing the environmental aspects and impacts in compliance with the current legislation, the specific permits, and the related prescriptions.
17. To help the site to identify and solve potential risks, propose corrective and improvement actions.
18. To develop improvement activities, projects, and new initiatives for the company targets achievement and the compliance assurance, both at global and at plant level, both on technical aspects and on sustainability issues.
19. To develop and enforce environmental guidelines and practices. To perform ISO 14001 internal audit and site visits, in order to verify the compliance with the ISO 14001 standard and with the company policies, and to assess the environmental risks of the plants.
20. To maintain the ISO 14001 standard documentation updated, in line with the regulatory evolution and the company policies.
21. To develop educational material, information, and training tools on environmental issues.
22. To write environmental articles, material, and documents for sustainability campaigns.
23. To collect and aggregate the environmental data, information, and facts for the Sustainability Report, by using the specific company software (SPARC), draw up the environmental section of the document, take part in the Sustainability central audit, and support the plants during the activity.
24. To oversee the environmental risk positioning of the plants, the pollution control programs, and the remediation/improvement activities, if any.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in E, H, S engineering or related field.
• Solid experience in a related field.
• Advanced knowledge of E, H, S issues, legislation, practices, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 standard.
• Experience in E, H, S audit (ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 internal auditor qualification is strongly preferred).
• Experience in E, H, S risk assessments and understanding processes which can produce contamination and pollution.
• Knowledge of industry best practices and E, H, S sustainability practices.
• Experience in managing multiple projects within deadlines and with proper attention to detail.
• Communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to communicate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
• Good interpersonal relationship skills.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Available for short trips.
• Ability to work under pressure, both independently and in a team. Ability in self-directed learning.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Good command of written and spoken English.
