We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Sustainability Consultant to join our Sustainable Development team in Arup Milan Office. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of data center sustainability.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and deliver specialist climate and sustainability services for data center clients and projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams.
- Develop and implement sustainability frameworks, concepts, and strategies to support Arup design teams in delivering data center projects with high sustainability ambitions.
- Advise and lead the integration of energy, renewable, carbon, materials, and water sustainability strategies for data center projects, collaborating with internal and external teams.
- Lead and deliver sustainability certifications for data center campuses and buildings.
- Conduct opportunity assessments for clients across a broad spectrum of sustainability topics and contribute to the development of implementation plans.
- Develop GHG baseline methodologies, emissions assessments, and reduction strategies.
- Advise on certification approaches, EU taxonomy, TCFD reporting frameworks, science-based target methodologies.
- Coordinate climate and sustainability teams to deliver the above services.
- Support the leadership of the team and group in developing business relationships with existing and new clients, prepare proposals, and win new jobs.
- Communicate sustainability requirements to internal and external team members, including workshop facilitation.
- Produce reports providing advice and guidance to clients and project teams.
- Master's degree in engineering or environmental sciences or other relevant fields of study.
- 10+ years of experience, with the ability to work on your own initiative and manage small to medium teams of people.
- 3+ years' experience in delivering sustainability strategies for data center projects.
- LEED AP with experience of LEED certifications for data centers and mission-critical facilities.
- Other green building accreditations (WELL, Fitwel, BREEAM, etc.) is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of sustainability initiatives for data center projects.
- Knowledge of greenhouse gas accounting principles and application in the data center sector, including Scope 3 categories.
- Knowledge of the GHG protocol, EU Taxonomy, TCFD reporting frameworks, science-based target setting, and WLCA.
- Client-facing management, communication, and good interpersonal skills.
- Membership with a relevant professional body.
- Experience of preparing commercial bids / bid responses, winning work.
- Project and commercial management experience, including project planning and budgeting.
- Fluent in both English and Italian language.
