Programa Mundial de Alimentos (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience.

The Thematic Team, Global Partner Countries Division (GPC), is seeking an intern to support the team in managing relationships with cross-functional and internal stakeholders.

The intern will be responsible for developing a communication plan to support relationship building and improve donor engagement on key thematic topics, including climate and resilience building, social protection and nutrition.

The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral English skills, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently.

The internship will provide the opportunity to learn about WFP's mission and programs, as well as develop skills in communication, research, and event planning.

The intern will be supervised by a Government Partnership Officer and will have access to WFP's industry-leading learning platform, WeLearn.

The internship is an excellent opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in a humanitarian organization and make a meaningful contribution to WFP's work.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a communication plan to support relationship building and improve donor engagement on key thematic topics
  • Support the development and review of communication products for the Thematic Team
  • Be the liaison person with the communication colleagues working on key thematic topics
  • Produce communication materials for key events
  • Contribute to the development of key products of the Thematic Team
  • Undertake desktop research for reporting purposes and outreach activities
  • Support the organization of meetings and events

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate programme from a recognized university OR recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate programme
  • University course attendance in the past 12 months
  • Proficiency in MS Office with excellent level in Excel, Power Point, SharePoint and other graphic design softwares
  • Excellency in written and oral English – good command of a second UN language is desirable
  • Strong analytical skills, advanced drafting/writing skills are essential
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task

Working Languages:

Excellent written and spoken English is required (proficiency/level C). A good command of a second UN language is desirable.

Supervision:

The intern will be supervised by a Government Partnership Officer and will have access to WFP's industry-leading learning platform, WeLearn.

Training Components:

The intern will have access to WFP's industry-leading learning platform, WeLearn, and may participate in WFP workshops or seminars, as appropriate.

  • Have a greater understanding of the World Food Programme's work and its role within the wider humanitarian system
  • Understand how WFP is funded and fundraises in support of its Changing Lives Agenda
