Job Description

Synthetic latexes are a crucial component in various industries, including paper, rugs, carpets, non-woven fabrics, rubber items, adhesive tapes, disposable and reusable gloves. Synthomer S.r.l., located within the Covestro production hub in the industrial area of Filago, is committed to producing high-quality NBR and SBR type synthetic latexes in aqueous emulsion.

The company prioritizes Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) management as a vital aspect of its business. The main goal is to minimize environmental damage, reduce natural resource consumption, and prevent accidents or negative health effects on employees and end-product users.

Synthomer aims to continually improve performance by setting, planning, and achieving ambitious annual targets. The Filago site holds certifications such as UNI ISO 9001, UNI ISO 14001, and UNI ISO 45001, as well as EMAS and WHP accreditation.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team to deliver the investment project.
  • Ensure safe project execution, design to required standards, quality, and lowest achievable cost, with timely handover for beneficial operation.
  • Coordinate with external parties to deliver project objectives.
  • Review requested scope and challenge it to ensure the best possible outcomes considering SHE, quality, schedule, and cost.
  • Accountable for engineering design and implementation by leading the project team functions.
  • Direct project engineers to design new processes and/or modify existing designs as per project needs.
  • Ensure conformance to regional and global engineering and safety standards.
  • Provide necessary project governance to ensure successful delivery of projects, focusing on risk mitigation according to the PE methodology.
  • Define engineering resource demand required and review construction manpower requirements to deliver the project.
  • Direct external resources to ensure projects are executed efficiently within time and budget.
  • Validate the use of external resource requirements to ensure SYN is always getting the best value.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, forecasts, schedules, and execution plans for submission of full CEP approval.
  • Deliver on project KPIs.
  • Implement and use common engineering tools for cost-effective project execution.
  • Commissioning support.
Requirements and Skills
  • Education: Degree level in Chemical/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in leading multi-discipline projects up to £10 M.
  • Fluent Italian at least C1 level.
  • Fluent English at least B1 level.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD mandatory.
  • Knowledge of MS Project and SAP is a nice to have.
  • Solid working knowledge of MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Motivated and energetic behavior.
