Junior Survey Engineer

Fugro Italy is seeking a skilled Junior Engineer to perform office and field-related survey tasks as instructed.

The successful candidate will continue to receive theoretical and practical training, both on- and offshore, to broaden their experience and understanding of the technical scope of work.

On projects, the Junior Engineer will receive instructions from the team leader or assigned person in charge.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist the Party Chief/Team Leader with the execution of given work and tasks.
  2. Organize own work in specific cases.
  3. Complete mobilization and calibration activities as required during a designated project in accordance with the FAL Staff Competency Matrix.
  4. Understand the basic operations and theory behind Surface Positioning and Subsea Positioning or Geophysical Survey (as applicable).
  5. Complete and carry out projects involving Surface Positioning and Subsea Positioning or Geophysical Survey (as applicable) to the standard as dictated in the FAL Staff Competency Matrix.
  6. Execute given work in accordance with specifications, procedures, and work practices during a normal working shift (12 hours).
  7. Execute repairs, maintenance, and testing of equipment in use.
  8. Actively participate in the implementation of QC procedures in the field environment.
  9. Continue learning and observing all aspects of more advanced operational work and tasks.
  10. Account for own project and business-related expenditure.
Administrative Duties
  1. Assist with the maintenance of field survey administration and field filing system in accordance with work practices.
  2. Ensure time spent on projects is properly accounted for.
  3. Ensure expense accounts are correctly completed and accounted for.
  4. Responsible for timely submission of own work reports for payroll and attendance matters.
QHSSE Responsibilities
  1. Actively participate in adherence to and improvement of the company Management System on Quality and HSE related issues.
Additional Responsibilities
  1. Continue participating in in-house and external training courses.
Working Relationships
  1. Work with higher-grade field staff to ensure projects are completed to client specifications.
  2. Meet with own staff on a regular basis to monitor job progress.
  3. Meet with the Survey Manager for selected project debriefs, Staff Development Interviews, and personal Performance Appraisal discussions.
  4. Discuss further training requirements with the FAL Technical Trainer.
  5. Meet with the QHSSE coordinator for QA discussions, feedback, and training.
Education and Experience Requirements
  1. B.Sc. level or Diploma in engineering or survey-related education or sufficient related experience.
  2. Relevant experience (minimum 1 year).
  3. Conversant with computer operation and a basic knowledge of application software.
  4. Basic English language (Written and Verbal).
