Position Overview:

The Project Development Manager will oversee the advancement of Wind, PV, and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects throughout Italy. This role encompasses the entire development lifecycle, from initial concept through to the investment decision and transition to the construction and operations teams, adhering to RWE's standards and project management protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the execution of assigned projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards while maintaining clear communication with all stakeholders, including Technical Engineering, Asset Management, and Legal teams.
  • Oversee the permitting process, including the preparation and review of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and Single Permits, while engaging with relevant authorities and representing the company's interests during technical discussions.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with landowners and local communities to foster positive engagement and support for project initiatives.
  • Enhance project viability by critically assessing project assumptions to lower Levelized Cost of Energy (LCoE) and improve Levelized Return on Energy (LRoE), in collaboration with the Investment Manager.
  • Directly manage or coordinate external consultants on all project-related activities, including site selection, environmental assessments, and securing necessary permits.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience (3-10 years) in solar and/or wind project development within Italy.
  • A degree in engineering, business administration, economics, law, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Italian renewable energy market, with proven expertise in the scouting and consenting processes.
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of the energy sector's key drivers.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate proficiently with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and business optimization.
  • Fluency in Italian and English; proficiency in additional languages, particularly Spanish, is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • A valid driving license.
