About the Opportunity

Fondazione Bruno Kessler - Fbk is a research and innovation institution based in Trento, operating in a plurality of disciplinary fields. We aim to achieve excellence in science and technology through our 2 science clusters, one dedicated to technology and innovation and one to humanities and social sciences, organized in 12 Research Centers, with more than 450 researchers.

We are part of the Digital Society Center, which deals with the analysis of remote sensing images for Earth observation and space exploration, consistent with our objectives. Our Remote Sensing for Digital Earth (RSDE) Research Unit is looking for a young recent graduate interested in pursuing an internship experience in the analysis of multitemporal data acquired by sub-surface radar sounder instruments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Development of a novel method for the analysis of multitemporal radar sounder data of the subsurface
  • Definition of a novel strategy for co-registering radar sounder data
  • Definition of a novel method based on deep learning to perform the analysis of multitemporal data
  • Definition of an experimental strategy and validation of the proposed methods
Requirements
  • Being enrolled in or holding a Master on telecommunication engineering, computer science, data science, artificial intelligence
  • Knowledge of major subjects related to computer science, data science, remote sensing
  • Fluent knowledge of written and spoken English (min. level B2)
  • Relational and teamwork skills
  • Good adaptability, flexibility and initiative skills
  • Programming skills in the use of Python and/or Matlab
Internship Information
  • Internship experience duration: 6 months for extra-curricular internships
  • Opportunity reserved for students enrolled in Master's degree or recently graduated (for extra-curricular internships, the degree must not have been obtained more than 12 months ago)
  • The internship experience will take place at the Science and Technology Cluster
  • We offer support in finding accommodation at affiliated facilities, in the case of off-site candidates
  • We offer the possibility to use the internal canteen service
  • Possible recognition of participation allowance
