Auxologico is seeking a talented Scientist in the Laboratory of Cardiovascular Genetics to lead and supervise genetic activities.

The selected candidate will work on an international project funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, collaborating with the group of Professor Michael Toft Overgaard at the University of Aalborg, aiming to decipher the functional effects of rare genetic variants in calmodulin using patient-specific models.

The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary team with expertise in clinical cardiology, human genetics, electrophysiology, and stem cell biology.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Investigating the functional consequences of calmodulin mutations using patient-specific human models,
  • Developing multicellular patient-specific models and organoids of human calmodulinopathies,
  • Contributing to the writing of research papers,
  • Assisting in the supervision of PhD students and contributing to lab requirements,
  • Presenting scientific works at national and international meetings.

Essential qualifications include:

  • A marked interest in the field of cardiac arrhythmias and/or genetics,
  • A PhD in biology, biotechnology, molecular medicine, genetics, or a related field,
  • A solid publication track record,
  • The ability to work independently,
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English,
  • Good IT skills.

Desirable qualifications include:

  • Experience in live imaging,
  • Expertise in molecular biology and/or molecular assays (qPCR, sorting, immunostainings),
  • Experience in genome editing,
  • Expertise in patch clamp electrophysiology and/or MEAs.

Proficiency in cell cultures, knowledge of human pluripotent stem cell cultures, and differentiation will be an advantage.

Contract duration:

  • This appointment will be initially for 1 year, with extensions for up to 4 years, depending on progress, and salary will be based on experience.
