Job Overview

Fao is a specialized agency of the United Nations committed to achieving food security for all and reducing poverty, improving nutrition, increasing agricultural productivity, and promoting sustainable agriculture worldwide.

We are seeking an experienced Data Statistician to join our team in Rome, Italy. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in statistics, mathematics, economics, or a related field, with at least three years of experience in compiling and analyzing food and agricultural statistics.

The Data Statistician will be responsible for providing technical support to the governance, coordination, planning, monitoring, and reporting of data and statistical activities at corporate level, particularly in the area of SDG monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyze, and review information, data, and statistics to support program products, projects, publications, and services.
  • Participate in the development of improved and/or updated technical, statistical, and/or analytical tools, systems, databases.
  • Support the compilation, disaggregation, progress assessment, dissemination, and reporting of SDG indicators under Fao's custodianship.
  • Collaborate with other Divisions/Offices/Centers on work groups and committees and promote best practices.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A master's degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, agricultural economics, or a related field.
  • At least three years of relevant experience in the compilation and analysis of food and agricultural statistics in national or international organizations.
  • Working knowledge (proficiency – level C) of English and intermediate knowledge (intermediate proficiency – level B) of another Fao official language.
