**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in the Water Utility Division. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for operating a variety of light to heavy construction equipment, performing skilled and semiskilled work in the construction, maintenance, and repair of the Town's water and sewer infrastructure.

The operation of backhoe/track-hoe equipment is primary to this position as this equipment is essential in the construction, maintenance, and repair of the underground utility systems.

This role requires a high level of physical fitness, as you will be working outdoors in various weather conditions, standing, stooping, walking, lifting up to 100 pounds, and performing other similar actions during the workday.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Operate a variety of light to heavy construction equipment, including backhoes and track-hoes.
  • Perform skilled and semiskilled work in the construction, maintenance, and repair of the Town's water and sewer infrastructure.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to achieve project goals and deadlines.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.

**Requirements:**

  • High school diploma or GED, plus three (3) to five (5) years of relevant work experience in the construction of water and/or wastewater underground systems, maintenance, or related work experience.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • ADEQ Water Distribution Grade III certification, ADEQ Wastewater Collections Operator Grade IV certification.
  • Valid Arizona Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker endorsement.
  • Work-Zone certification, Asbestos certification, Trench Safety certification, or ability to obtain within six (6) months from date of hire.
