About the Role

The AWS Generative AI Innovation Center is seeking a highly skilled Data Science Manager to lead our team of data scientists, deep learning architects, and ML engineers in building generative AI models and pipelines. As a Data Science Manager, you will be responsible for directing the team to deliver state-of-the-art solutions to customer business and mission problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work directly with customers to drive adoption and shape the future of generative AI by understanding business problems and guiding customers in implementing generative AI solutions.
  • Develop long-term strategic relationships with key accounts and help develop the industry's best generative AI delivery team by enabling and coaching specialists on best practices.
  • Grow an existing team by hiring, onboarding, training, and developing new scientists, architects, and engineers from internal and external sources.
  • Identify opportunities for building reusable technical assets based on recurring patterns of customer needs.
  • Provide customer and market feedback to Product and Engineering teams to help define product direction.
  • Drive revenue growth across a broad set of customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics/statistics, computer engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • Several years of experience with data querying languages, scripting languages, or statistical/mathematical software.
  • Several years of technical management experience, including a minimum of 1 year in a technical management role in a customer-facing or consulting organization.
  • Experience in algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing, neural deep learning methods, and/or machine learning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with fairness in machine learning and artificial intelligence to detect and remove bias in ML/AI systems.
  • Hands-on experience with deep learning (e.g., CNN, RNN, LSTM, Transformer).
  • PhD or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, operations research, or in a highly quantitative field.
  • Prior experience in training and fine-tuning of Large Language Models (LLMs).
  • Deep expertise in generative AI and hands-on experience of deploying and hosting Large Foundational Models.
  • Experience and deep knowledge of AWS and AWS AI/ML services.
