Vessel Operations Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Vessel Operations Engineer to join our team at Sgf Global. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our vessels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide engineering reviews and address operational issues to ensure compliance with QA/QC and HSE requirements.
  • Assist in liaising with client representatives and subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Monitor progress of work and site conditions, and advise on any changes to project schedule or execution sequence.
  • Support the Vessel Management Team in planning and execution of work, and participate in the resolution of technical problems.
  • Supervise execution of diving, precommissioning, post-trenching, and hook-up activities.
  • Provide operational input and support to onshore project teams, and liaise with installation engineers during the preparatory, mobilization, and installation phases.
  • Review installation procedures, loadout, and seafastening plans to ensure safe and timely installation.
  • Ensure completeness of construction materials and consumables lists, and coordinate with project coordinators for timely procurement and delivery.
  • Coordinate with mobile equipment, asset, Piptec, ROV, trenching, precommissioning, and hook-up teams to ensure timely availability of personnel and equipment.
  • Witness and inspect pre-rigging, loadouts, and seafastening activities, and identify any deviations from procedures.
  • Coordinate with fabrication departments for loadout of fabricated structures and installation aids.
  • Provide input and feedback for engineering close-out reports to improve departmental standards, working methods, and guidelines.
  • Lead project planning efficiency optimization, including installation aids reuse, tensioner pad change-outs, equipment mobilization and demobilization, and ROV tooling consistency.
  • Be involved in project HAZIDs and HIRAs, and track tasks.
  • Verify that relevant schedules reconcile with present vessel productivity.
  • Assist with project management-specific third-party contractors to confirm all technical and operational contractual aspects are observed.
Requirements:
  • Engineering English level: B- C1
  • Years of experience: 3-5
  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project
  • A strong work ethic, willing to work in highly changeable environments, meeting tight deadlines while delivering high-quality outcomes
  • Skilled in the coordination of multiple interfaces across functions
  • Extensive offshore experience, having worked onboard pipelay/construction vessels (ideally previously Field Engineer or similar)
  • Knowledge of subsea construction, onshore fabrication recommended
  • Able to demonstrate commitment to HSE and keen to promote safe practices
  • Committed to collaborative working in a multi-location team environment
  • Good understanding of Saipem products, activities, and assets
