We are seeking a skilled Back-End Developer to support the creation, customisation and maintenance of back-end and API development related to web services used for data analysis and financial and crime prevention investigations.

Transcrime is a Joint Research Centre on Innovation and Crime of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan. Our spin-off company, Crime&tech, translates our research into analyses, models and tools for the assessment, prevention and reduction of security and crime-related risks.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the creation, customisation and maintenance of the dashboard backend;
  • Support API development and management;
  • Integration with LLM API;
  • Develop R and/or Python code for KPI calculation;
  • Work with researchers to implement their proposed analytical models within the back-end.

Minimal Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering or Mathematics (in progress or completed);
  • Knowledge of R and/or Python programming languages;
  • Experience in data analysis;
  • Basic knowledge of the SQL language;
  • Knowledge of software development, in particular the implementation of RESTful APIs;
  • Knowledge of English.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of Linux;
  • Basic knowledge of Docker;
  • Familiarity with at least one major cloud provider: GCP (preferred), AWS, Azure;
  • Interest in business intelligence/compliance/anti-money laundering/illegal markets.
