Job Summary

Villanova University seeks a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Associate Director of Career Strategy. This role will play a critical part in delivering a comprehensive career services program for law students and alumni.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized advising and counseling to law students and alumni on career development and professional development matters.
  • Coach students to develop short- and long-term job seeking strategies and career plans.
  • Plan and conduct programming on career and professional development matters, including private practice, public interest, government, and judicial clerkship careers.
  • Prepare career and job search guidance materials, including resource guides, handbooks, and related materials for students.
  • Assist in seeking ways to improve employment outcomes for all students.
  • Represent the Law School to the legal employment community and at related bar association events and other conferences.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2-3 years of professional experience in the legal profession
  • Legal practice experience or equivalent relevant legal profession/market knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge of essential legal career planning and employment processes and principles
  • Counseling, mentoring, training, and multicultural competence
  • Networking and marketing skills
  • Verbal communication, writing, and research, oral presentations to groups and individuals
  • Counseling, listening, and empathy skills; commitment to diversity
  • Student mentoring, counseling, and advising abilities, including approachability, interpersonal communication skills, and cultural competence
  • Close attention to detail and procedures
  • Ability to work effectively with technology
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collegiality with all relevant constituents (faculty, staff, employers, students, alumni, department colleagues)
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, approach challenges with creativity, insight, and resourcefulness
  • Willingness to travel and work during the evening
Preferred Qualifications
  • JD preferred
  • Experience in attorney hiring/recruitment strongly desired
  • Prior experience and/or training in counseling and mentoring preferred
  • Experience or training in marketing, sales, or equivalent fields relating to business development is a plus
  • Experience with Excel or comparable databases as well as 12Twenty software is desirable
