Job Summary

The Cafeteria Technician is responsible for preparing and serving food items to students and school personnel, as well as maintaining food service facilities in a safe and sanitary condition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Arrange setup for food items, supplies, serving lines, and equipment to ensure items are provided in accordance with cafeteria requirements.
  • Assist other site processes, such as substitute mentoring and special events requiring food service.
  • Clean utensils, equipment, and storage, food preparation, and serving areas to provide daily maintenance of the cafeteria kitchen and ensure sanitary conditions.
  • Collect payments on accounts to secure funds for reimbursement of costs.
  • Evaluate prepared food for flavor, appearance, and temperature to present items that will be accepted by students and staff.
  • Inspect food items and supplies to verify quantity and specifications of orders and comply with mandated health standards.
  • Inventories food, condiments, and supplies to ensure availability of items.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality on personnel and student issues, such as personnel records, medical records, and student data.
  • Monitor students' food choices to meet mandated requirements and ensure adequate nutrition.
  • Prepare and serve food and beverage items to meet mandated nutritional requirements and projected meal requirements and requests of students and school personnel.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to maintain equipment in safe working order.
  • Respond to inquiries of students, staff, and parents to provide information and direction regarding the type and cost of meals.
  • Stock food, condiments, and supplies to maintain adequate quantities and security of items.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or GED.
  • Food Handlers/Serv Safe Certificate by NRA within one year of hire.
