Accountant Job Description

The Town of Florence is seeking a highly skilled Accountant to join our team. As an Accountant, you will be responsible for performing a variety of financial and accounting duties, including reconciliations, journal entries, financial statements, and general financial functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reconcile and maintain various ledgers and accounts
  • Assist in reviewing accounting transactions to ensure accuracy and correctness
  • Maintain fixed asset records and create internal controls and procedures
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, subsidiary ledgers, and other accounting records
  • Prepare journal entries and research accounting issues
  • Reconcile the town's bank accounts, including cash, investments, and bond proceeds
  • Assist in preparing the Town's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and interact with external auditors
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • Two years of journey-level experience in accounting
  • Preferred experience with fixed asset programs and governmental accounting
  • Must have and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License
  • Preferred computer skills: Microsoft Word and Excel, internet, and accounting software
