About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our team at mama health. As a key member of our data engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and building scalable data pipelines, ensuring efficient access to high-quality data. You will analyze complex datasets to support business intelligence, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize data workflows. By working closely with stakeholders, you will identify opportunities to leverage data to drive business solutions and improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and implement scalable data pipelines and data infrastructure to support robust data analysis and real-time decision systems.
  • Apply advanced data engineering techniques to integrate complex data sets and optimize data workflows for efficiency and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate data insights into actionable strategies that drive business impact.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring systems to ensure data pipeline reliability, quality, and performance.
  • Extract structured information from unstructured data sources, including free text, to enable better analysis and insights.
  • Analyze and extract actionable insights from large datasets to support business intelligence and drive strategic decisions.
  • Work closely with product development teams to incorporate data-driven solutions into our product offerings.
  • Communicate complex technical solutions, data models, and analysis to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and actionable way.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, iterative startup environment, balancing quick execution with the ability to pivot when needed.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team culture.
Requirements
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Data Engineering role, with a proven track record of designing and building scalable data infrastructure and pipelines.
  • Proficiency in writing production-level code in Python, with experience in other programming languages like Java or Scala being a plus.
  • Strong experience with SQL, database management systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
  • Deep understanding of ETL processes and tools (AWS, Glue Jobs, S3) with experience in building robust data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, or Airflow.
  • Ability to analyze and extract insights from large datasets using data querying tools (e.g., SQL, Python).
  • Experience with monitoring and maintaining data pipeline performance and ensuring data quality and integrity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex data engineering concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of structure and organization.
  • Must be eligible to live and work in Italy; willingness to relocate if not currently residing in Italy.
