About the Role

Hitachi Rail S.p.A. is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our team in developing TCMS systems for the railway industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing software for on-board electronic control units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop embedded software for TCMS systems in accordance with project requirements and railway regulations.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot issues raised during service operation to propose mitigation actions and corrective solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define TCMS system architecture and modifications for specific projects.
  • Write functional and software requirements specifications for new and existing projects.
  • Implement and test software using company tools.
  • Write product documentation and modify products according to company standards.
  • Design review with clients and suppliers.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in the railway industry or equivalent industry with the role of Software Engineer.
  • Excellent knowledge of C/C++ programming languages.
  • Excellent knowledge of Matlab-Simulink-Stateflow.
  • Excellent knowledge of SW Real Time Architecture.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organisation.
  • Readiness to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced, multitasking international environment.

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of HTML5 languages, javascript.
  • Knowledge of the Linux operating system for embedded applications.
  • Work experience in the railway sector.
  • Knowledge of the Python language.
  • Knowledge of Cybersecurity techniques.
  • Knowledge of javascript development frameworks.
  • Knowledge of Engineering Processes and Railway Operations.

Education and Qualifications

Degree in Telecommunication/Automation/Computer or Electronic Engineering or at least 10 years of experience in similar roles.

Languages

Good knowledge of written and spoken English is mandatory.
