Join Our Team as a Solutions Architect

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Solutions Architect to join our team at Octopus Energy Group. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our projects are supported with the right tools and applications to meet their needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the operations team to understand their automation needs and develop solutions to meet those needs.
  • Design and build new data sources and pipelines that provide key data and insights to the organization.
  • Develop and maintain frameworks for testing and documentation of our data sources.
  • Collaborate with software developers to ensure a smooth integration with our existing infrastructure and tools.
  • Maintain and develop our existing data infrastructure and tools.

Requirements

  • Excellent software engineering skills with a passion for writing high-quality code.
  • Knowledge of Python.
  • Knowledge of web scraping and crawling libraries.
  • Knowledge of SQL.
  • Experience in ensuring data quality.
  • Experience in deploying data services in a cloud environment (ideally AWS).
  • Familiarity with the concept of Direct Acyclic Graph and the use of platforms for scheduling and monitoring processes (e.g. Airflow, Dagster).
  • Experience with Spark is a plus.

Our Data Stack

  • Python as our primary programming language.
  • Kubernetes for data services and orchestration.
  • Airflow exclusively for workflow planning and monitoring.
  • Circle CI for continuous deployment.
  • Parquet and Delta file formats on S3 for data lake storage.
  • Spark for data processing.
  • dbt for data modeling.
  • Presto and SparkSQL for analysis.
  • Streamlit for data applications.
