Job Description:

The Academic Department Lead role at Ef Education First is an excellent opportunity for experienced teachers who wish to pursue a career in academic administration. The purpose of this position is to support the Director of Studies in the daily academic operations, overseeing the administrative aspects of our programs.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years teaching Italian as a foreign language and possess strong customer service skills. They should excel in a busy team environment, being detail-oriented and organized.

This position has two main responsibilities: supervising programs under the general management of the Director of Studies and assisting the Director of Studies in the day-to-day operations of the academic department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist during intakes with placement testing, class allocation, and student orientation
  • Order supplementary textbooks and maintain inventory
  • Ensure teacher resources are maintained and support troubleshooting IT issues when required
  • Assist with teacher recruitment and training
  • Ensure and support accreditation requirements with respect to student academic records
  • Issue warning letters to students for attendance violations in conjunction with both the Director of Studies and School Director when required
  • Assist the Director of Studies in organizing teacher development
  • Assist in organizing school academic activities
  • Participate in graduation ceremonies and activities
  • Print certificates, language assessments, and course reports
  • Assist in calling/scheduling substitute teachers for cover
  • Teach classes (50% in mid-low season)
  • Teach for emergency administrative or teaching cover
  • Take emergency phone calls (as required in rotation with school staff)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Italian as a foreign Language Teaching experience and Certification
  • Proven experience supervising staff
  • Proven experience with administration
  • Good English, spoken and written
  • Certified CELI/CILS Exams Invigilator (preferred)
